Namaku Caca, aku berusia 9 tahun ini, aku memiliki seorang adik laki-laki yang baru berusia 4 tahun. Ibuku mengidap penyakit serius sehingga ayahku harus merawatnya dirumah.
Selain mengurus ibu, ayahku bersusah payah bekerja untuk menghidupi kami berdua ditambah lagi biaya rumah sakit yang tinggi.
Setiap pagi, aku harus bangun dan menyiapkan makan pagi, lalu membangunkan adik laki-lakiku. Setelah itu kami makan pagi dan mengendong adikku untuk berangkat ke sekolah karena tidak mungkin dong meninggalkan sang adik sendirian dirumah.
Guru disekolah tahu akan keadaan keluargaku dan mengizinkan aku membawa adikku ke kelas. Terkadang, mereka suka menyumbang peralatan sekolah untukku.
Walau adikku masih kecil, ia mengerti bahwa ia tidak boleh menganggu saat pelajaran dimulai. Ia akan menunggu dengan diam sampai aku selesai sekolah.
Kehidupan kami memang tidak mudah, kami pun mengembangkan kebiasaan hemat. Aku sudah mengerti cara menjahit pakaian. Aku akan menggunting bajuku dan menjahitnya agar adikku dapat memakainya. Aku terbiasa memegang semuanya dirumah.
Mungkin karena itu juga, ayahku tidak khawatir dengan keadaan di rumah. Ayahku sangat fokus untuk merawat ibuku.
Namun biayanya rumah sakit semakin hari semakin menumpuk. Aku sering bersikap optimis untuk menghibur kedua orangtuaku, berharap mereka tetap percaya diri.
Suatu hari, ayahku ulang tahun. Aku memutuskan untuk memasak makanan enak untuknya. Aku kasihan melihatnya harus setiap hari bolak balik dari tempat kerjanya ke rumah sakit.
Aku pun membawa adikku ke pasar dan menggunakan uangku yang sedikit untuk membeli bahan masakku nanti.
Banyak sekali orang yang berjualan dipasar. Disini, kamu bisa menemukan semua jenis sayur-sayuran, buah-buahan dan tentu saja daging. Tapi ketika tanya harganya, aku hanya bisa menundukkan kepala. Uangku yang sedikit ini tidak bisa membeli apa-apa.
Pandanganku teralih ke sebuah stan yang banyak daun terkelupas dan jatuh dilantai. Aku pun berjalan ke stan tersebut dan mulai memungut daun-daun tersebut. Adikku juga membantu mengumpulnya dengan tangan mungilnya.
Tapi, sang penjual melihat kami dan datang marah-marah, “Hei pengemis kecil, sayur ini emang boleh buat kalian ambil? Ini buat kelinciku bukan buat kalian. Kalau ambil lagi entar kupotong tangan kalian.”
Adikku langsung menangis karena kaget, aku juga takut dan segera membawa adikku pergi.
“Nak, sini.” kata pemilik stan sebelah. Aku menoleh dan melihat seorang paman tua menjual ikan. “Orangtua kalian dimana? Kok anak kecil datang ke pasar sendirian?” tanyanya lagi.
“Ibuku sakit, sedangkan ayahku sedang merawat ibuku. Hari ini ulangtahun ayahku, aku ingin memasaknya sesuatu, tapi aku tidak kebeli apa-apa” kataku masih menangis.
Paman itu menghembuskan nafas dan berkata, “Kalian anak yang baik. Nih, paman kasih dua ekor ikan, bawa pulang ke rumah untuk dimakan yah.”
Paman yang baik itu memilih dua ikan dan memasukkannya ke dalam plastik. Awalnya aku ingin menolak, namun adikku merengek ingin makan ikan.
Aku pun menerimanya. Aku membungkuk dan mengucapkan terimakasih lalu bersiap-siap pulang ke rumah.
Ketika aku sampai ke rumah, ayah juga sudah ada di rumah. Ia sangat senang melihat aku membawa pulang dua ikan.
Ayah pun mulai membersihkan ikan tersebut, tiba-tiba, sebuah beda jatuh ke lantai. Ayah pun memungutnya. Ekspresi wajahnya berubah senang ketika ia menemukan sebuah cincin berlian.
“Ya ampun, kalian beli ikan ini dimana? Lihat cincin berlian ini, bisa dijual berjuta-juta. Ibumu bisa selamat!” soraknya senang.
Aku segera menggeleng-gelengkan kepala, aku pun menceritakan pengalamanku di pasar tadi, “Ayah, cincin berlian ini pasti punya paman tadi. Kita harus mengembalikannya kepadanya.”
Ayah menggeleng-gelengkan kepalanya dan tersenyum, “Kamu benar nak, bukan barang milik kita tidak boleh kita ambil. Yaudah, kamu balikin gih, ayah masak ikan yah.”
Aku pun berlari ke stan paman tersebut dan mengembalikannya. “Pantesan dari tadi dicari gak ketemu. Ternyata dimakan ikan yah! Kamu anak yang baik, terimakasih yah!” kata paman.
Aku pun menceritakan kepada paman tentang percakapanku dengan ayah ketika menemukan berlian tadi.
Paman pun mendengarkannya dengan serius, pada akhirnya ia berkata, “Aku ingin mengunjungi rumahmu. Boleh gak?” Aku pun mengangguk dan membawanya pulang ke rumah.
Ketika sampai di rumahku dan melihat keadaan di dalamnya, ia tampak terharu dan berkata, “Cincin ini adalah cincin pernikahanku.
Lupakan harganya, cincin ini sangat berarti untukku. Tapi, kalian sama sekali tidak berniat apa-apa ketika melihat cincin ini. Aku sangat salut. Untuk menunjukkan rasa terimakasihku, aku beri kalian 50 juta yah.”
Ketika ayahku mulai menolak, paman itu lanjut berkata, “Aku ingin memperluas stanku dipasar. Tunggu Caca sudah agak besar sedikit, ia boleh datang bantu-bantu di pasar.
Anggap aja 50 juta ini uang penghasilan Caca nanti. Bagaimana? Lagian kalian benar-benar butuh uang ini untuk menyelamatkan ibu Caca.”
Kami pun menunduk dan mengucapkan terimakasih kepada paman. Sangking terharunya, ayah juga berlinang air mata.
Tiba-tiba, adikku berteriak, “Aduh, laper. Mau makan!”
Satu kalimat ini bikin kami semua tertawa.
“Orang yang paling bahagia adalah orang yang melupakan keburukan orang lain terhadap dirinya, dan melupakan kebaikan dirinya terhadap orang lain…”
